How we calculated the savings
We believe you should know exactly how we arrived at these numbers.
What we did
We priced out what it would cost to buy six separate supplements, one for each benefit area that Immunity & Longevity covers, and compared that total to a single monthly supply of Roots Pet™.
We reviewed 3–4 products per category, 19 products in total. Selection criteria: best-selling and highest-rated on Amazon, Chewy, and brand websites. These aren't the cheapest options on the shelf. They're the products a research-driven pet parent would actually consider.
The categories we compared
| # | Benefit area | Products compared |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Joint & mobility | 4 |
| 2 | Mushroom immunity | 3 |
| 3 | Allergy & itch | 3 |
| 4 | Gut health & digestion | 3 |
| 5 | Calming & stress | 3 |
| 6 | Senior cognitive support | 3 |
How we calculated monthly costs
- We recorded the retail price and unit count for each product.
- We used the manufacturer's recommended maintenance dose for each weight class, not loading doses, which are typically higher during the first 4–6 weeks.
- Monthly cost was calculated as: (unit price ÷ units per container) × daily dose × 30 days.
- When a dosage chart specified a range (e.g., "1–2 chews for 25–50 lbs"), we used the midpoint.
- Competitor totals are the sum of all six categories at category-average pricing.
Roots Pet™ monthly costs follow the same logic: (pouch price ÷ 60 chews) × daily dose × 30 days. Because dosage varies by dog size, a single pouch lasts anywhere from 20 days (large dogs) to 4 months (tiny dogs). The monthly cost reflects actual consumption, not just the price on the label.
What we used for pricing
- All prices were verified on Amazon, Google Shopping, and brand websites in February 2026.
- All prices reflect retail pricing (no subscribe-and-save discounts, which typically reduce costs by 5–15%).
- We used the same retail standard for Roots Pet™ pricing.
A note on cognitive supplements
You may notice that medium-sized dogs show the highest competitor total. This is driven by one category: senior cognitive support. Some products in this category require 3 capsules per day for medium dogs (40–80 lbs) on their standard formula, but switch to a larger capsule at just 1 per day for large dogs. This is the manufacturer's dosing, not our interpretation.
The bottom line
We did this research because we wanted to answer a fair question: Is one supplement actually more cost-effective than buying each benefit separately?
The data says yes. But we'd rather show you how we got there than ask you to take our word for it.
