The Treeing Tennessee Brindle is a medium scenthound from the United States, developed in and around the Appalachian and Ozark Mountains. It descends from Cur dogs and was bred for strong scenting power, an open trail with good voice, and the ability to tree all kinds of game.
A brindle-coated, smooth-coated dog, it is smaller and shorter in the ear than the Plott, which sets it apart in conformation. Adults stand 16 to 24 inches tall and weigh 30 to 50 pounds, with a typical lifespan of 10 to 12 years.
Alert, intelligent, and friendly, these dogs are courageous, agile, and fast. They work alongside hunters.

Nutrition
The Treeing Tennessee Brindle does well on a high-quality dog food, whether commercially manufactured or home-prepared with your veterinarian's supervision and approval. Match the diet to the dog's life stage, whether puppy, adult, or senior.
Some dogs are prone to gaining weight, so watch calorie intake and overall weight. Treats help with training, but too many can lead to extra pounds. Learn which human foods are safe for dogs and which are not.
Keep clean, fresh water available at all times, and check with your vet about any concern over your dog's weight or diet.
Grooming
The short, smooth coat needs only weekly brushing with a soft bristle brush or hound glove, and an occasional bath keeps your Treeing Tennessee Brindle clean. Grooming time also makes a nice chance to bond with your dog.
The strong, fast-growing nails need regular trimming with a clipper or grinder to prevent overgrowth, splitting, and cracking. Check the ears regularly for a buildup of wax and debris, and brush the teeth on a regular schedule.
Exercise
The Treeing Tennessee Brindle remains primarily a working hunting dog, so a nonworking home needs to provide regular outlets for its natural drive and energy. Fenced play and several walks across the day can form the practical base of the routine.
Indoor games give the dog something to do when outdoor time is limited, while swimming, hiking, retrieving, or dog sports can add variety. Because scent focus and independence can complicate confinement, free play should take place in a securely fenced area.
Training
The Treeing Tennessee Brindle is intelligent and friendly, and tends to get along well with other dogs. With a moderate openness to strangers and steady trainability, it responds best to patient, consistent work and early socialization.
This breed does reasonably well with children when interactions are supervised. Introduce new people, dogs, and settings gradually.
